Who We Are
PLAID is an Irish dance studio located in Brea, CA in Orange County. We offer Irish dance classes and lessons for Children (ages 3 and up) as well as Adults. Our studio teaches traditional Irish step-dancing, which is the form of Irish dancing that big shows like Riverdance and Lord of the Dance use for their choreography. Most of our dancers train for competitive Irish dance, while others dance for recreational purposes or to participate in small and large-scale shows put on by PLAID or other functions. We take great care in educating our teachers in sports psychology techniques, injury prevention, proper exercise and stretching routines, and much more to ensure the health, performance, and well-being of our dancers.
About the Owner
Michelle Larson, the owner, choreographer, and head teacher of PLAID, has had a long history with Irish dance. She began dancing at the age of four and eventually became a Regional, National, and World Championship level dancer and competed until the age of twenty-one. In 1990 Michelle earned her teaching certification, or TCRG. Since then, Michelle has gone from a small studio located in her garage to a partnership with Stage One Dance Studio in Brea. She has trained several world champion-level dancers over the years and still continues to do so.
Michelle is also a Pilates instructor and fitness trainer specializing in athletic training and enhancement for Irish dancers. She offers her knowledge and expertise to her students on a regular basis and teaches sport specific fitness with an emphasis on injury prevention.
