Dear Families,

On Feb 5th there is a competition for dancers (all ages are as of Jan 1, 2012) There is no charge to enter.

This is a mock feis with real awards for the kids. the purpose is to provide a controlled competition where candidates taking their adjudicator exam judge a feis.
It is imperative that we participate. Candidates from all over the US are coming and 3 of the local schools are excluded from participating because they have candidates taking the exam.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
It will be held at the
Hacienda Hotel,
Sepulveda Blvd.,
El Segundo (close to LAX).
  • U10 (any age 9 and under) in 1st feis, beg 1 or 2 (dancers will dance the Reel and Light Jig)
  • U14 (any age 10 – 13) in Nov or Prizewinner (dancers will dance New Slip Jig and the Slow Hornpipe)
  • Over 14 Championship (dancers will dance Reel and Slow Jig)
Mini Feis on Sunday morning 8am to 12 noon.  We will require dancers for the following competitions:
Under 10 Beginner level (Reel and Light Jig)
Under 14 Novice/Pz  (Slip Jig and Hornpipe)
Over 14 Championship (Reel and Jig)

Soft Shoe Raffle!!
The soft shoe raffle has been delayed. Many families were still on vacation the week the tickets were on sale.
To give more families an opportunity to purchase tickets, the draw will be held Jan 21st at the end of the Photo day. That gives each family two weeks so look for tickets in their studio, $5 for 1 or $20 for 5. If you purchase 5 tickets and you win that’s a brand new, championship quality soft shoe (retail value $58 plus shipping) for $20

There will be 5 drawings, each for a single pair of brand new Inishfree Aoife soft shoe/pumps.Please note that photo day is not just for dancers. You can sign up to take family photos and invite your friends to join the fun. Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity that Dan Straszewski is providing.

All dancers competing in championship solos please wear PLAID t-shirts to class (you all should have a white one but bring all the ones you have and we can decide at class which one or combination of t-shirts work best.)

We will be taking a photo at the beginning of class for the ad for the program.

Mon Oct 10th Fullerton
All dancers on a team for the O please wear white PLAID t shirts to class. We will be taking a photo for the ad in the program. The photos will be taken before we start dancing.

Spaghetti Dinner and Show

All families and friends are encouraged to attend this fantastic, fun event that showcases our dancers’ talent and will help raise money for the March recital, workshops, etc.

Show at 5 pm
Dinner at 6 pm

Tickets:
On sale beginning Monday, Oct. 26
Price: $12 for adults; $8 for kids 3-11; free for dancers & kids 2 and under

Please note: Anyone wishing to reserve an entire table (seats 10) will be required to pay for the table in full. These tables will be reserved and assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

Volunteers:
We need family members for a number of tasks including making dessert, set up, clean up, and raffle donations. A sign up sheet will be in both studios. Please check the bulletin board and see how you can help.

Trophy Centerpieces:
Plans for decorations include using the dancers’ trophies as centerpieces. Therefore, all dancers attending the event are asked to bring one special trophy and attach a note to it with their name and a short explanation as to why they picked that trophy. All dancers will also be asked to complete a note card that answers the question “Why do you Irish dance?”

Intermediate Summer Workshop will take place during Intermediate class time in Fullerton only. All Intermediate dancers are encouraged to participate.

Mon Aug 8 at 5pm and Wed Aug 10 at 6pm.

Since Celtic Camp has been cancelled I am taking this opportunity to offer a special on private lessons.

For the week of July 11 – 15 in the Fullerton studio I will offer private and semi private lessons to all dancers at any level.

Private will be $25 (45 minutes)

Semi Private with 2 – 4 dancers will be $15 per dancer (45 minutes)

Celtic Camp is fast approaching. This Camp is for any child ages 5 – 13. Please join us for a fantastic week!

Celtic Camp is fun-filled week of crafts, music, dancing, and storytelling that will teach your child about Irish history and culture. On the final day (Friday the 15th) there will be a performance, showcasing what the participants have learned throughout the week.
