2011-scotland Dear Champion Dancers,

Those of you planning to attend the World Championships in 2012 should plan on attending this event as well as the Great Britain’s which is the week before or the week after.

Plans are well underway for the 2011 All Scotland Championships in Irish Dancing which will take place in the prestigious Glasgow Royal Concert Hall between the 6th and 9th October 2011.  This is the venue that hosted the 2010 World Championships.

This will be the first time that the All Scotland Championships will be the Secondary Qualifying event for dancers from the UK and Continental Europe.  They are being jointly hosted by the All Scotland Championship Committee and the Scottish Regional Council.

The esteemed panel of adjudicators are:-

Áine Uí Shé, Leinster – Dara O’Shea-Delap, Scotland – Erin Pender-LeVine, USA – Jackie O’Leary-Fanning, Leinster -  John Morgan, North West England – Noreen Duggan, Connaught – Pauline Shaw, Southern England – Sharon O’Brien, Munster and Tracey Taaffe-Metcalfe, Ulster.

Providing the wonderful music are:-

Brian O’Sullivan, Dean Crouch, Kevin Joyce, Martin Daly, Paul O’Donnell & Seamus O’Sullivan

All qualifying age groups (from U11 upwards) will have choice of light and heavy with any set dances.  Dancers in the U5 through to the U10 Championships will have to dance specified dances.  It is hoped to again run Preliminary Championships within the overall Open Championships.

A different panel of three adjudicators will judge all Qualifying Championships – i.e. dancers will be judged by all nine panel members.  U5 through U9 Championships will be judged by one set of three adjudicators.

It is very difficult at this juncture to provide an accurate time table due to the uncertainty of entry levels.  However, it is anticipated that age groups will compete on the following days:-
